Beautify your skin with this pre-holiday season beauty routine

You’ll look more energetic, relaxed, and ready to enjoy all of the season’s festivities!

Are you tired of having a pallid, dull complexion in your Christmas photos every year? Join the club! Unless you’re lucky enough to live somewhere warm, like Malibu, you’re subjected to the harsh winter weather, causing you to have dry, tight-feeling skin. However, by following our pre-holiday season beauty routine you can arm yourself against the elements and look glowing at any holiday party you go to!

Hydration is key: We may sound like a broken record, but beautiful skin starts with hydration. It helps you maintain your hydrolipidic film, the protective barrier that keeps your skin supple and moisturized. If you find that your normal day cream isn’t working as well in winter, invest in one that has a richer texture and will provide you with deeper hydration, like the Aquasource Cocoon balm-in-gel.

Flush out toxins: The cold temperatures aren’t the only thing that could be affecting your skin in the winter. Pollution, cigarettes, fatigue and stress are all factors that could be giving you a dull complexion. Get your glow back by ridding your body of toxins through dry brushing. It stimulates the lymphatic system and exfoliates your skin. For your face, use facial exfoliator like Biosource Daily Exfoliating Gelée, or the Clarisonic, as it is gentler than a dry brush.

Get enough rest: Do you feel like the bags under your eyes tend to look more noticeable in winter? It happens to us as well, and the underlying reason is that we’re just not getting enough restful sleep! You may feel tired from the overproduction of melatonin, but your circadian rhythm often gets affected as the days get shorter, causing you to have trouble sleeping. Adopt a relaxing bedtime routine and be sure to go to sleep early enough to get at least 7-8 hours of rest every night!

Stay active: We know it can be tempting to want to go into hibernation mode once the temperatures drop, but one of the best ways to have radiant skin is to exercise and work up a sweat! However, if you go for a run outside, just don’t forget to apply sunscreen or a cream with SPF protection (UV rays can still be harmful in the winter). Cool down and recharge after your workout with a refreshing homemade juice, filled with plenty of vitamins and antioxidants to give you energy and a beautiful complexion.

Adopt this beauty routine and you’ll look glowing and gorgeous in all of your holiday pictures!
