Daily bike rides are more beneficial than you think
Cycling on a regular basis could make you smarter!
Does the thought of public transportation or sitting in traffic make your head spin? Then the best way to start – and end – your day is to ride bike. It’s great for your figure, helps with stress, and can even build your intelligence (not that you aren’t smart enough already!).
Cycling makes you fitter
It can be hard to stay in shape when you have a fulltime job. Of course there are exercises you can do at your desk, but finding time at the beginning or end of the day for a real workout isn’t always easy. Riding your bike to and from work is one of the best solutions to this dilemma. It’s a cardiovascular activity, so it gets your blood pumping (which brings more oxygen to your cells for glowing skin!), and it can even help with weight management. In 2008 a study was published that suggested that cycling could decrease obesity rates.
Cycling makes you calmer
Whenever you do any type of exercise, it reduces cortisol levels and releases feel-good hormones like endorphins. Riding your bike for around 30 minutes a day will make you feel happier, and less stressed.
Cycling makes you smarter
In a study conducted with volunteers between the ages of 60 and 79, those who rode bikes for three months had a larger brain volume compared to those who were sedentary. The reason for this is that cycling helps build neurons and the connections between them, thus making you sharper and smarter!
The best places to ride your bike
Lots of cities are already bike-friendly like Copenhagen and Amsterdam, but many still favor building highways over bike paths. If you don’t live in an area that’s suited for cyclists, we recommend riding a stationary bike at your local gym, or attending spin class.
Protect your face and skin
Riding your bike outside leaves you exposed to pollution and UV rays. Protect your skin by creating a shield with face cream that contains SPF protection and antioxidants, like Skin Best Day Cream SPF15.
