Deskercise: 3 ways to exercise at work without breaking a sweat

Discover three discreet exercises that will help you workout while working.

Being superwoman is not easy. Juggling friends, family, and work often leaves little time to exercise. If just the thought of finding time for a 30-minute workout makes you sweat, try these simple moves you can do right at your desk.

How to secretly workout at the office

Exercising at work does not mean running laps or doing push-ups in front of your co-workers (though kudos if you’re brave enough!). Isometric exercises are a great way to build strength, and the best part is no one will even realize you are doing them. However, these exercises don’t get your heart rate up, so get your cardio in by briskly walking at least 20 minutes a day and by walking up and down the stairs a few times.

3 easy isometric exercises

Repeat the following exercises at least once in the morning and once in the afternoon. Make sure your posture is correct (that means no slouching!) to benefit the most from these moves.

-Awesome abs: This exercise allows you to not only work out your abs but also concentrate on your breathing. Take a deep breath and feel your stomach expand out. When you exhale, tighten your abs and bring your stomach in towards your spine. Hold this move for 5-10 seconds, release, and then repeat for 12-15 reps.

-Better biceps: Place one hand over the other and clasp them tightly together. One thumb should be pointed upwards and the other downwards. Next try to pull your hands away from each other without letting go, until you feel resistance in your biceps. Hold this move for 10 seconds. Repeat 5 times.

-Lithe legs: Sitting upright in your chair, lift both feet off the floor. Squeeze your abs and then slowly lower your right leg towards the ground - don’t let your foot touch the ground. Slowly raise your leg back up and then repeat the same movement on the left side. Do 15 reps on each side.

Adding these moves to your daily routine will help boost your motivation and you’ll start to feel fitter in no time.
