Making waves: 3 ways to save the planet from your bathroom

A few little changes can make a big difference.

Whether we’re spending less time in our cars, turning down our thermostats by a few degrees, or taking the time to separate our cardboard from our tins, we’re all looking for new ways to help save our planet. But what if we told you that right from the moment you step into your bathroom in the morning, there are little things that you could which would go a long way to saving the planet? We’re intrigued!

Rejuvenate your body and mind with a quick, cool morning shower!

Water is one of our planet’s most precious resources, and one which is vital to our survival. Although 70% of the Earth’s surface is covered in water, only 1% of that is fresh water that we can actually use, which makes water conservation an important topic. Furthermore, an enormous 25% of household energy is used to heat the water from our showers, which makes the case for shortening and cooling your morning shower an important one.

Why not try and turn down the temperature on your daily shower? Not only will a cold shower rejuvenate your mind, but it will also re-energize your skin, and the likelihood is that you’ll spend less time in there, conserving our precious water! In fact, cold water has been shown to shrink pores and stimulate blood flow, which makes our complexions look stronger and more radiant - exactly what we need on a Friday morning!

Choose sustainable products to protect the planet and our oceans!

Sustainable living has become an important part of our vocabulary in recent years, with increased recognition that we need to preserve today’s resources in order to provide for future generations. Although we may be recycling as much as we can, why not invest in beauty products which are produced in a sustainable way or are formulated with sustainable ingredients?

Biotherm is committed to saving our planet, and in particular our ‘Blue Heart’, seeking to reduce their ecological footprint by 60%. In 2011, Biotherm first committed to the Water Lovers platform; an engaging project to develop more sustainable water use and environmental best practices, as well as working to develop sustainable, aquatic-based technology in order to help preserve our oceans. When applying SPF during your morning beauty regime, why not switch your current sun protection for Biotherm’s Waterlover Sun Milk? Not only will this moisturizing and soothing sunscreen keep your skin protected from harmful UV rays, but it’s also designed with a 95% biodegradable base formula for a lower impact on the water environment.

Reduce your ecological footprint and think about the packaging

We all do our bit when it comes to recycling our everyday household items, however research has shown that when it comes to our bathroom, we tend to forget about recycling our items.

Biotherm is committed to reducing its carbon footprint and environmental impact through its packaging. 80% of Biotherm’s 50ml glass jars contains 40% recycled glass, and all cardboard packaging is recycled. Not only that, but by replacing instruction leaflets with printing on the side of the box, Biotherm has saved 35 tonnes of paper in the last 2 years - not bad at all!

By making a few small changes in the bathroom, it can have a huge impact on the wider world. Join Biotherm in the mission to save our blue planet!
