How to start the New Year off on the right foot

Follow our tips to make the most of this month!

January 1st has come and gone, but there’s still time for you to kick off 2017 in a positive way. You don’t need to completely change your lifestyle – a few minor adjustments will suffice! Start doing the four things below today, and you’ll be on your way to becoming an even better version of yourself.

Fully commit to your New Year’s resolution

It does not matter how slowly you go so long as you do not stop.” – Confucius

New Year’s resolutions are always made with the best of intentions. However, once life gets in the way people tend to push them to the backburner, ultimately giving up on their goals altogether. This year, be part of the 8% of people that reach their resolutions by persevering no matter what. Even if it takes you 3 months longer than you had originally planned, you’ll feel more accomplished in the end.

Top tip: If you have trouble disciplining yourself, check out different apps that will help you with your New Year’s resolution, like Streaks.

Ensure your beauty routine is still working

Your skin can be affected by a variety of factors: age, stress, free radicals, the weather… This month, periodically check your face to determine if it needs any new skincare products. For example, if it suddenly looks and feels drier and your wrinkles appear to be more noticeable, you may need a more nourishing face cream.

Try out something new

New experiences, whether it’s food or a trendy workout class, help expand your knowledge and can even make you a happier person. According to research by psychologist Rich Walker, people who push themselves to try new things tend to retain more positive emotions in comparison to individuals who stick to mundane routines. Make it a point this month to learn at least one thing that you’ve always been curious about, like how to a delicious pizza crust, or even something pertaining to philosophy!

“Marie Kondo” your desk and home

An organized environment helps you feel more focused, and could even help you eat better. Throw out old papers you don’t need anymore, reorganize your computer desktop, and donate clothes that you no longer wear. You’ll feel like a weight has been instantly lifted! If you feel overwhelmed by clutter and need some extra help getting rid of things to have a tidier home, try out the KonMari Method.

A New Year, a new you, a new start!
