How to throw a clean cocktail party that won't leave anyone hungry
Provide your friends and family with appetizers that are not only tasty, but also good for them!
If visions of raw carrot sticks and cucumber slices come to mind when you hear “healthy aperitif party”, get ready to shift your perspective. Clean eating can be filling, delicious and interesting – if you have the right recipes. Use our selection as inspiration for your next holiday cocktail party, and follow our tips so that you can be the ultimate #eatclean hostess!
Make the food colorful and enticing
Nothing’s better than walking into someone’s home for a cocktail party and seeing a table full of delectable dips and small bites to eat. Color plays a huge role in how we perceive the way food tastes. For example, we tend to associate red with something sweet, like juicy ripe strawberries. Provide your guests with a variety of small dishes with different colors to tantalize their taste buds, like roasted red pepper dip, hummus, marinated black and green olives, and orange and yellow cherry tomatoes.
Protein is known to help you feel full for longer. This means that you can eat less and still feel satisfied. Serve your friends protein-rich foods like lean meat meatballs, or a vegetarian version, like quinoa, cauliflower and chickpea balls (as seen in the photo below).
Find healthy alternatives to junk food
Just because you #eatclean, that doesn’t mean that you have to give up your favorite foods. All you have to do is look for healthy (or healthier) versions of them, like guilt-free beetroot pizza or air-fried (or baked) French fries served with homemade dipping sauces to control the sugar, salt and fat content. These alternatives will also be great for your skin and body, because lots of vegetables like beets have anti-aging benefits and will provide you with a dose of vitamins and nutrients.
A clean cocktail party will make you feel nourished and happy. The only thing missing is mixing up a few delicious cocktails (or mocktails)!
