Instantly in love with... @annedubndidu
We recently met with Anne Dubndidu for a delicious, healthy breakfast at Maison Bastille in Paris, France. Her story inspired us so much that we just had to share it with you!
She’s an athlete, she motivates thousands of girls a day to lead a healthy lifestyle with her beautiful Instagram account and blog, and her name is not as difficult as you may think it is to pronounce. We’re talking about Anne Dubndidu, an inspirational French fitness blogger who revealed to us that she wasn’t always as interested in working out as she is today – there’s hope for us all yet!
(Not) born to run
In 2009 while Anne was still a student at Sciences Po Aix-en-Provence she decided to start a blog that was solely dedicated to travel and fashion. Two years later she left for Los Angeles, California to spend a year abroad there, but ten days before leaving, her boyfriend presented her with a challenge: to go running with him. ‘’I was 20 years old at the time,’’ Anne tell us. ‘’I couldn’t even run 1 km! When I was younger I was working towards becoming a rhythmic gymnast, but when it came to running… I couldn’t even last 10 minutes!’’
However once she got to the States, Anne set a goal for herself to become a better runner. She even bought herself her first pair of running shoes and an outfit to work out in. ‘’In the beginning I would go run four times a week for 10 minutes, then 12 minutes and then 30 minutes, pushing myself little by little until I was able to run for longer periods of time. Eventually I found myself working out five or even six times per week. Then I got hooked.’’
Fitness has made her life better
Becoming #morefit has helped Anne in more ways than just being able to fit into her jeans better – it’s allowed her to gain more confidence in herself: ‘’A few years ago it would have seemed impossible for me to be able to do any kind of public speaking or to go on a road trip alone. Fitness has given me the confidence to be able to do these things, and I want other women to realize that it can help them in similar ways. So I decided to share my experience with the world.’’
In January 2012 after 6 months of intense training, Anne published her first article dedicated to fitness on her blog (which is currently only written in French). That article got a lot of positive feedback from her readers and people began to ask her questions related to fitness, and wanted to know things like where she gets her motivation from. ‘’As I started to answer these questions I began to think about how I could motivate other people as well. So I created the hashtag #DubndiduCrew.’’
Today that hashtag has over 55,000 posts on Instagram. But Anne reminds us that ‘’social networks should only be used as a source of motivation and as a way to get inspired, not make yourself feel guilty in any way. If you start to view fitness as something that you ’have to do’ you’ll instantly lose all motivation!”
