Party girl: how to help your skin recover after having too much fun

So many invitations, so little time.

Your little black dress has never had so many outings, and you've finally found the perfect season to use that ultra-sparkly nail polish. But your skin can only hold out for so long, and numerous nights of partying can leave your complexion dull, drained and tired-looking. Here's how to care for your skin after the party's over.

Late nights, early mornings

The party season is intense, and waking up after clinking glasses and dancing around to Mariah Carey can be particularly grueling. The night before (and the night before that) can quickly start to show on your face, with heavy under-eye shadows being a major tattle-tale to your boss. To refresh your eyes and reduce puffy, purple shadows, apply a soothing eye cream like Aquasource Total Eye Revitalizer before going to work. To make sure those eyes stay open in important meetings, fill a spray bottle with water and lightly spritz over your face whenever you feel the lids dropping.

One drink too many...

From champagne to eggnog, the holiday season parties can leave you regretting that "last" drink the morning after. Rehydrate your body by drinking lots of water to flush out toxins, and try to eat as much fruit and vegetables with a high water content as possible, such as tomatoes. Winter berries are also high in antioxidants which help keep premature wrinkles away, so keep a healthy pot handy for snacking. The natural sugars will also boost your energy levels. A hydrating face mask, such as Life Plankton Mask , will top up your skin with the moisture lost after drinking too much, and revitalize your complexion.

Makeup and breakouts

Heavy party makeup can cause your skin to protest the next day, leaving you with blocked pores and pimples. A clay-based face mask, like Skin Best Wonder Mud, will draw out impurities left over from glamorous makeup looks and lackluster cleansing. In the future, ensure that you thoroughly remove your makeup before bed with a makeup remover based on your skin type.

Now you have the tools to keep your skin looking flawless and radiant this holiday season. So go out and enjoy yourself!
