Refresh your glow: 5 foods that help regenerate your skin

This spring, load your plate up with detoxifying foods – they’ll give you a healthy complexion and a sunny disposition!

Spring is the perfect time to revive your body and spirit. The warm weather makes you feel happy and the sun gives your dull winter skin a gorgeous glow. Help your skin look even better this season by eating radiance-boosting foods that free your body of toxins and increase blood flow, like the five below.

Strawberries

These little berries have anti-inflammatory properties and are rich in antioxidants and Vitamin C (did you know that a handful of strawberries contains more Vitamin C than an orange?!). Strawberries help stimulate collagen production and fight against free radicals, which cause premature aging. They’re low in calories, and can be eaten at any time of the day. One of our favorite ways is to make a strawberry chia seed jam and spread it on toast for breakfast!

Top tip: Invest in skincare products that will help your skin breathe better and help rid it of pollution particles. If you live in a city, the new Skin Oxygen line from Biotherm will be your best ally against external aggressions.

Coconuts

Coconuts are a cocktail of vitamins and minerals for your health and skin: potassium, magnesium, sodium, zinc, and selenium. Selenium helps the skin maintain elasticity, and zinc contributes to cell renewal. One of our favorite ways to get a daily dose of coconut is in energy ball form – you can take them with you anywhere for an instant pick-me-up!

Artichokes

Artichokes stimulate the production of bile in the liver, preventing the buildup of unhealthy fats, and helping your body detox (which gives you a brighter complexion!). They also have diuretic properties, which facilitates digestion and stops bloating. Artichokes can be eaten cold in a salad, or hot, like this delicious stuffed artichokes recipe.

Endives

This vegetable is one of your best clear-skin allies: it has detoxifying properties, it’s a mild laxative which aids digestion, and it’s chock full of Vitamin A, which keeps your skin smooth and regulates sebum production. Endives are a low-calorie food and are easy to cook – you could make braised endives in as little as 10 minutes!

Lemons

This citrus fruit is high in Vitamin C which fights premature aging by stimulating the synthesis of collagen. Start each morning by drinking warm water mixed with the juice from half a lemon. It will purify your liver, reinforce your body’s natural defenses, cleanse your skin and give you a glowing complexion. If you don’t love the acidic taste of lemons, try out this lemon cream pie smoothie bowl recipe – it’s slightly sweet and utterly delicious!

A diet rich in vitamins and antioxidants, working out on a regular basis, and using skincare products that help detox your skin like Biotherm’s Skin Oxygen line will make your skin look radiant and beautiful this spring.
