The secret to boosting your summer glow is on your plate

Snack your way to radiant skin and a gorgeous golden tan.

Who doesn’t love to have radiant, glowing skin in the summer? In an ideal world we’d all spend a few weeks on the Côte d’Azur or St. Barts to get a nice tan. However, considering that isn’t always possible, what can we do to look like we did? Eat foods that will naturally give you a golden hue, and put on a bit of self-tanner, like Autobronzant Tonique.

Bring on the carotenoids

Carotenoids are antioxidants that keep your body and skin healthy. Beta-carotene is a carotenoid that gets converted to Vitamin A, which aids in cell turnover and protects your skin from UV damage. It’s even been proven in a study that it can increase skin pigmentation to give you nice summer glow.

Cantaloupe: For breakfast

Just 1 cup of cantaloupe gives you your recommended daily intake of Vitamin A. If you’re looking for a new way to enjoy the fruit, try out a cantaloupe breakfast bowl. Cut a small cantaloupe in half, scoop out the seeds and then top it with whatever you want – nice cream, yogurt, fresh fruit…

Apricots: For a snack

Just 4 apricots will provide you with 50% of your daily Vitamin A intake. They’re small and portable, which makes them perfect to bring with you to the beach. Just make sure they’re fresh – dried ones tend to be loaded in sugar. We personally love these quinoa apricot squares.

Sweet potatoes: For lunch or dinner

Sweet potatoes pack a huge beta-carotene punch – over 100% of your daily amount in just one cup! They’re delicious no matter how you prepare them, however they’re especially amazing in this sweet potato, pea and feta salad.
